Useful Tips for Managing Sets in Stage Manager on macOS


Stage Manager is a powerful tool for managing windows, but some actions can feel clunky. For instance, bring a specific window to the current stage by dragging it from the side can be awkward process.

Fortunately, there is a more efficient way to control a set in Stage Manager.

Adding a Window to Current Stage

If you want to add a window from the side panel to your current stage group without replacing it, here’s a simple way to do it instead of cumbersome dragging.

  1. Press and hold the Shift key.
  2. While holding Shift, click the window you want to add to the stage.

Removing a window from stage

There are two ways to remove a window from the current stage.

  • Temporary Removal: To hide a window, simply minimize it (CMD + M). The window will return to the group if you bring the app forward again.
  • Permanent Removal: To permanently separate a window from the current stage, Click Window in the menu bar and Select Remove Window from Set.
